Membership Notes:

We did it! As a chapter we received the award for achieving the third highest overall membership rate as a chapter at the national convention in Grand Rapids Michigan. I had been looking forward to this convention ever since I became a Postmaster over three years ago. It was a chance to visit my family in Michigan and then attend my first National convention. I had an absolutely wonderful time. The information and the learning opportunities are something you must attend to fully appreciate. I want to encourage all of you to start planning for the convention in September when we have our next national convention in San Juan Puerto Rico. Make it a vacation/learning experience that you will never forget.
The highlight for me at the convention in addition to marching into the convention hall as a first timer was when New Hampshire won the award for the biggest percentage increase in membership. To be able to help many new Postmasters to join our organization was really a great feeling. The Postal climate is ever changing and we all have a duty to aid our fellow Postmasters to be better prepared for this change. Some of the ways as membership chair that I can be of help is to continually work towards keeping our members up to date on the events that transpire within our district. If you go to our chapter website (
www.nhnapus.org) we look forward to bring you information and items of interest. I am looking for feedback on what kinds of things we can put on the website that pertains to our NH chapter. I update the website throughout the week. In case you haven’t noticed I post birthdays every Saturday for the coming week. I just added a slide show of the Equinox resort where in May NH and Vermont will be holding our joint state conventions. More information about that event will be posted shortly.
A couple of weeks ago on a Tuesday morning at 8:30 I received a phone call at my office in Rumney. I answered and on the other end was Bob Rapoza President of NAPUS. He personally called me to thank me for my efforts as membership chair and told me that with membership falling about 3% nationally we should be proud as a chapter in the fact that NH moved to over 90% in membership. That call made my day and it is great to know that our efforts have not gone unnoticed.
NAPUS will be there for us if we should need their help. But it is up to each of us individually to continue to grow in our knowledge of our job. Continue to do what is right legally, morally and ethically. If you know that a neighboring Postmaster needs some help work with them. For those that attended the fall meeting in Meredith or the state or national conventions talk up what a great time you had to those Postmasters that border your Post Office. Share what you learned it just takes a phone call.
We have reached a milestone with membership but now it is up to all of us to keep us the Granite State.
