2012 Convention Update
We are already busy planning next year’s state convention. Our chapter has invited New Hampshire and Vermont to join us and we are looking forward to the opportunities for training, networking and sharing that this will bring. May 18-22, 2012 had been designated as the convention dates. The convention site is the Ramada Inn in Saco, Maine. The accommodations are very nice and the meeting rooms are more than adequate for our general sessions and the necessary state breakout rooms we will need.
In 2011 New Hampshire and Vermont met jointly and their format and content was very similar to what Maine had. We have developed a framework of time and space, and we are looking forward to working together to fill in the content.
Basically, the convention will start with optional early check-in on Friday, May 18th with golf planned for Saturday, the 19th. There are many other activities in this part of Maine and it is only a few miles from Portland. Maine usually holds a board meeting on Saturday night. We are planning a general session for Sunday morning with an afternoon event in nearby Old Orchard Beach (OOB). Monday is set for all day training sessions TBA. Monday night we will return to OOB for our banquet. Tuesday will be devoted to our annual business meetings and our District managers as well as the Retiree luncheon and meeting.
Last year in Maine we had breakout sessions with each POOM and the Postmasters in their respective area. It was very well received by both the Managers and the Postmasters. We will plan on repeating that as we conclude our convention on Tuesday.
After the holidays, we will have the registration form, prices, and contact information for the hotel available. We will also gather information about things to do in the southern Maine area for those of you who may not be familiar with it. Start making your plans to attend. We look forward to seeing you there.
